Chica Chica blends cumbia, desert film scores and exotic grooves into a vibrant, cinematic sound. Born from a desire to travel and explore distant places, the trio takes listeners on a road trip through imagined landscapes, dusty highways and forgotten dance halls. Melodic bass lines, shimmering wah-wah guitars and percussion create a sound that is organic, grainy and always touched by a subtle sense of melancholy, like discovering an old analog photograph tucked inside your favorite vinyl record.

Since emerging in the summer of 2022, Chica Chica has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting instrumental acts in the Dutch alternative scene. Their energetic live performances, balancing danceable grooves with atmospheric storytelling, have earned them a growing and dedicated audience. Their debut album, released at the end of 2023, featured the singles Disco L’Africain and Year of the Dragon, both receiving regular airplay on NPO Soul & Jazz.

Over the past two years, the band has continued to build momentum with appearances at Eurosonic Noorderslag, performances at numerous summer festivals and a nationwide tour as part of Popronde. In October 2026, Chica Chica will release their highly anticipated second album, Mi Zafira, further expanding their distinctive world of cinematic grooves, tropical rhythms and evocative instrumental storytelling.
